All About CEUs

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are credits assigned for taking part in industry education activities. The intent of CEUs is to assure FNGLA's certified professionals keep up-to-date on the latest in industry trends, horticultural information and environmentally-sound landscape practices. FNGLA's Certified Professionals and Florida Water Star Accredited Professionals are required to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in order to renew their certifications every three years.

How do I earn CEUs?

There are a variety of ways to earn CEUs. In additional to taking a class, it could be the tour of a botanical garden or volunteering at a local school garden. We’re open to many ways of earning CEUs. After all, it’s about the learning. Some examples:

  • Educational programs through FNGLA or UF/IFAS Extension
  • Trade shows like The Landscape Show or TPIE
  • FNGLA Chapter Meetings and Events
  • Online classes and webinars
  • Teaching
  • Judging FNGLA Landscape Exams
  • Volunteering
  • Pesticide CEUs and those from other licenses and certifications also apply

How do I report my CEUs?

CEUs are automatically posted to your certification if you register for and attend an FNGLA-sponsored event. CEUs for other programs must be submitted to FNGLA for credit.  There are two ways to do this:

  • Mail, e-mail or fax to the FNGLA office
  • Upload CEUs directly to your online profile

How do I renew?

Renewal notices are sent to the certified professional's home address two months prior to one's certification expiration date.  There are a number of ways to renew … provided you have enough CEUs.

  • Mail a check to the FNGLA office
  • Call the FNGLA office with a credit card
  • Renew online with a credit card
