President's Letter: A busy, breezy fall, so far

November 3, 2020

As I write this, it is a brisk 49 degrees here in North Florida this morning to begin Election week.  There is no shortage of Halloween leftover sugar treats in our household and I suspect we may partake in a few of these to stay up to watch the Presidential Election results as they roll in.  FNGLA is offering a post-election wrap-up titled, the “Jim & Ben Post-Election & Pre-Session Show” scheduled from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 10.  I am looking forward to this and hope you will sign up to virtually attend as well.

The FNGLA team and volunteer leaders are busy organizing upcoming events.  The 2020 FNGLA/SHARE golf tournament will be held on Nov. 12 at Las Colinas golf course at Mission Inn, Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. This benefits the FNGLA Endowed Research Fund at the UF Foundation/SHARE.  It’s always a great event and I am sure this year won’t be an exception. Registration for the 2021 Tropical Plant International Expo is open and ready if you haven’t already signed up.

The FNGLA team is working very hard to put on a safe and beneficial TPIE tradeshow to be held on January 20-22 in Tampa.

Since August, FNGLA has welcomed 37 new members and 28 newly certified professionals.  If you know someone who can benefit from being an FNGLA member, or can benefit from earning one of our many great certifications, please continue to encourage them to join or get certified!

As we round out 2020, we are continuing to work hard to bring benefits and value to the great FNGLA membership.  Thank you for your continued support of our great Association!

And, I hope you voted!!

Thank you,
