Recognized as FNGLA's most prestigious award, criteria includes current FNGLA membership, faithful and exceptional service to the environmental horticulture industry and FNGLA notwithstanding personal gain. Neither previous Wendell E. Butler Award recipients nor the incumbent FNGLA president are eligible.
The person's involvement in FNGLA has made a positive impact on the success of the association, its members, and the industry while serving as an example to others.
The award winner then sits on the next year's Industry Awards Selection Committee.
