The FNGLA Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is designed to provide a robust learning and networking experience for professionals in Florida’s nursery and landscape industry. Selectees will learn the foundations of leadership, develop skills useful in personal and career development, and explore opportunities to take on greater responsibility in service to the industry.
This nine-month study program is a combination of the Foundations of Agricultural Leadership Certificate program, offered online by the University of Florida IFAS Center for Leadership, and four in-person sessions which will take place across Florida. In-person sessions will feature various aspects of Florida’s nursery and landscape industry.
Course topics to be covered include:
- Leadership 101
- Personal Leadership
- Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership
- Communication Styles
- Local Advocacy
- Branding Yourself as a Leader
As valuable as the education provided in the courses and meetings will be the people you will meet as classmates, mentors and speakers. Each will become an important part of your career network and will often become friends and industry family members.
Participants must successfully complete the Foundations of Agriculture Leadership program and attend all in person sessions to graduate.
The program is limited to no more than 15 individuals per class.
