Overview:
At this one-day session, you will learn how to manage plant health, both in nursery and edible crops, in protected environments including greenhouses, nurseries, high tunnels and indoors. Lance Osborne, a professor of entomology at the University of Florida, will speak on biological controls of pests, followed by a research poster presentation on heat tolerance and breeding from UF's Alfred Huo, Ph.D., assistant professor in plant breeding. Carrie Harmon, Ph.D., will also impart practical chemical and cultural management options for nursery/greenhouse and edible crops. Following lunch (provided), the day will complete with a tour of UF's Mid-Florida Research and Education Center which will include hands-on demonstration stations. Plant Health on the GO!! is a workshop presented by FNGLA and UF/IFAS.
