FFA Leadership Training Center Hosts 2019 CDEs

August 8, 2018

The 2019 FFA Career Development Events in Floriculture, and Nursery & Landscape has a new home in 2019 – The FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City.

“Participation in these CDEs has grown so much, and more space is needed to accommodate the students and the activities,” says Merry Mott, program superintendent for the event. “The FFA LTC is a perfect fit for our events.”

The purpose of these events is to, 'develop individual responsibilities, foster teamwork and promote communication while recognizing the value of ethical competition and individual achievement,' according to Florida FFA's website.

The winning high school from each of the two CDE events moves on to represent Florida at FFA's National Convention in Indianapolis in October each year.

The outline for both CDEs is available. It includes familiar activities such as Plant ID, and adds some new ones including plant propagation. More specifics will be available in the coming months and posted to FNGLA’s website.

Registration will be available through Florida FFA after the 2018 winter break. Schools requiring overnight accommodations will be able to reserve rooms through the LTC.
