President's Letter: fall, the perfect time to be thankful

October 2, 2020

Finally, fall and the fourth quarter of 2020 are here! It is nice to feel the temperatures cool, see a little football being played and know our plants and landscapes will begin to get a little relief from the summer heat.

I hope this letter finds you and your business doing well. As we enter the start of the fourth quarter of 2020, there is a lot happening within the association. Our FNGLA team is hard at work supporting the membership on all fronts. Many Chapters are holding events - many via Zoom and some socially distanced in-person.

If you haven’t visited FNGLA’s website lately, please take the time to do so. There is a wealth of tools and information on the site including information on upcoming events, FNGLA certifications, member benefits, research and news. There is a great Job Board with 50-plus job postings in the past four weeks alone! If you’re looking to hire, or know someone looking for a position, please direct them to www.fngla.org.

Also on the horizon is the 2020 Tropical Plant International Expo, set to take place for the first time in Tampa! Pre-registration for attendees is slated to start in mid-October.

In some of my talks with various members, it’s very encouraging to hear positive demands for the products and services our industry offers. This year has offered us a unique set of challenges and I think everyone has done a great job facing these challenges. As a member of FNGLA, you can rest assured there is a great team working on your behalf!

Fall being the host of the Thanksgiving holiday makes it the perfect time to be thankful. I wish to give a big ‘thank you’ to all of The Landscape Show exhibitors who donated portions of their exhibit fees to the FNGLA. This is a great help to offset some of the financial shortfall we incurred by not being able to have the show.

I also wish to thank members who donated this year to FNGLA’s Political Action Committee (FNGLA-PAC). These funds are vital in supporting state legislators and candidates who support our industry. Lastly, I wish to thank our FNGLA team, Chapter leaders and members for their hard work and commitment to this Association.

All the Best,
