President's Letter: It's 2020!

January 21, 2020

It’s 2020! I hope everybody’s been having a great year so far! I can’t believe it was 20 years ago we thought the world was going to come to a standstill because of a computer glitch. Remember that? Who would have thought it was 20 years ago already?

Yet, here we all are – not only surviving but thriving as an industry!

For those of you who are attending TPIE this week, I’m looking forward to seeing you on the trade show floor! TPIE is the world’s marketplace for tropicals and indoor foliage and, from what I can see less than an hour after stepping off my plane, this year will not disappoint.

On a personal note, I’m pleased to be attending my second TPIE! I look forward to breaking bread and sharing a beverage with new and old friends. Be sure to check back with me next month for a full report on some show highlights.

Earlier this month, a few members of FNGLA’s executive leadership including Past President Ed Bravo, CEO Ben Bolusky and I had the privilege of attending the groundbreaking of the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum at Cecil Field in Jacksonville. You’d be proud to know FNGLA’s members have banded together to donate more than $150,000 in plant material and labor to this project, which honors military service members who are missing in action or who gave their lives in service of our country. Heartfelt thanks go out to those who are donating. And, there’s still an opportunity to donate! Contact FNGLA’s office if you’re interested at info@fngla.org.

Looking ahead to February, FNGLA’s Northeast Chapter is happy to report the Jacksonville Landscape Show is officially sold-out (of exhibitor space). The show takes place Feb. 6-8 at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. We look forward to seeing you there!

For now, though, I’ll simply wish you a wonderful 2020.
