President's Letter: Much to Be Thankful For This Holiday Season

December 27, 2019

The holiday season is a great time to be thankful! Business is booming and, thankfully, everyone in our industry seems to be extremely busy.

As usual, the executive officers and several FNGLA staff members hit the road to get to as many Chapter Christmas and holiday parties as possible around the state.

I’m very grateful to the FNGLA Chapter leaders who planned and hosted such warm and engaging events! My apologies to the couple of Chapter celebrations we just couldn’t quite reach. There is always next year!

The Chapter Christmas parties ran the gamut between intimate and extravagant. Yet, the one commonality they all shared was the spirit of camaraderie and friendship. All this is to say, I had a great time at all!

Special acknowledgements to the FNGLA road warriors I saw at multiple Chapter events throughout the state this holiday season. FNGLA Past Presidents Billy Butterfield, Ed Bravo, Will Womack and FNGLA Membership Manager Sandra Pellerin, to name just a few!

Also, of special note, was FNGLA’s annual Board meeting in Tallahassee during one of the Legislature’s committee weeks before the Session actually begins. It’s always great to meet with our state leaders to voice our nursery and landscape industry concerns. And, it’s always nice to visit the Capitol.

After the buzz of this holiday season wears off, we have a sold-out TPIE to which to look forward! This international event takes place January 22-24 at the Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale. Be sure not to miss this tropical foliage and houseplant industry show!

New this year will be a TPIE Wellness Zone featuring an array of live plants and other elements aimed at the well-being marketplace.  Also new will be a Shipping Plants session which will outline shipping options for plant buyers of all sizes. Both of these new offerings are free with your TPIE trade show badge.  And, while we’re on this, I encourage you all to visit www.tpie.org now to purchase your trade show badge while it’s still just $20.  The price increases to $30 after January 10.

In the meantime, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season.  And, here’s to a prosperous 2020 together!
